High on the hill at Diwan, with magnificent views over the Daintree Rainforest and down to the Coral sea, sit four beautifully crafted thatched roof Tree Houses. The lodge and infinity pool will be your private romantic getaway. Suitable for couples, the retreat can also be booked for an exclusive stay or a get together with family or friends.
Cockatoo Hill Retreat is only two hours drive north of Cairns and about 70 minutes from Port Douglas. The retreat is situated half- way between the Daintree river and Cape Tribulation (20 minute drive either way). Once you cross the Daintree river by car ferry you enter another world .
Cockatoo Hill Retreat is set on a ridge providing views all around, from Thornton Peak to the west, Hutchinson Hill to the north, Alexandra Bay and the Coral sea to the east. It is a short distance drive to the many deserted beaches, the reef, all the tours and activities and the boardwalks of the Daintree Coast area.
There are several good restaurants and cafes close by and at Cape Tribulation.
Each Tree House has high balinese-style ceilings and a hand-crafted king size bed, with views. Each room opens to a wide balcony allowing the sea breezes to flow through. The ensuites have their own small balconies. There is a fridge/mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities. Towels and beach towels are provided and the room is serviced daily.
Breakfast is served in the main lodge at a time to suit the guests.
A private introduction to the area and tour booking facilities are offered.
The wildlife is diverse; from the colourful butterflies, the occasional cassowary, many birds, green frogs, native bees, insects etc.
